Four species of finches.
While researching I stumbled across something very interesting. I found out that finches actually helped Darwin come up with his theory of evolution. While on a voyage to Galapagos Islands, he noticed that the finches differed from island to island. When he was writing up his notes on the return voyage he realized that what he learned about the finches combined with what he learned about the Galapagos tortoise could undermind the doctrine of stability of species. This was when he first had doubts about species being immutable, which later led him to his theory of evolution.
Adam, Excellent connection between Darwin and To Kill a Mockingbird. I am looking forward to reading each of your research notes. Have you started to think about how you will use your knowledge of evolution to impact change in the world today? -Brad
